Route…

DAY 1 - London to Marlborough, 61.5 miles - ROUTE

We’ll set off from West London at 9.15 am after the morning rush hour. As it is day 1 there are frequent stops and the pace is gentle to give us the opportunity to get into the challenge. It won’t take too long for us to wind our way out of London and enter the peace and quiet of the Berkshire countryside. The morning ride is undulating, not too intensely though. After regular stops at Winnersh, Mortimer, and Brimpton to recharge, we’ll stop for a well-earned lunch near Newbury.

After lunch, we will continue our journey to Marlborough, but you’ll be pleased to hear, it will be less than 25 miles! We’ll head north of the Newbury through the village of Ramsey and then over a short sharp hill, before free-wheeling into Marlborough. 61 miles done, day 1 complete, and we’re well on the way to Torquay!

Upon arrival in Marlborough, you will get a well-earned break and be able to check in to the hotel for our overnight accommodation. After you’ve had the chance to freshen up we will all meet for our evening meal and a chance to reflect on the first day of cycling and get to know one another.

DAY 2 - Marlborough to Taunton, 82.1 miles - ROUTE

Day 2 is our biggest day when it comes to cycling. We will start earlier, but the roads around Marlborough quickly become country lanes with a limited amount of traffic. We’ll need to maintain our pace on the day to complete the 82 miles, but our guides will support you throughout the day.

Cycling starts around 7.30 am, with a short hill, then a steep descent, and a flat road to Westbury and Frome. The route is gently undulating for the first 40 miles, before our lunch stop in the village of Witham Friary. After lunch, we have a bit of a climb just before Castle Cary. Following this, you’ll be glad to hear the remainder of the day cycling (30m) is downhill, flat with minor undulations!

Upon arrival in Taunton, once again you will check into our hotel and have an evening in a local restaurant, where you’ll also have the chance to enjoy some food and drinks (not too many!) before you sink into bed ahead of our final day, the ride to Torquay!

DAY 3 - Taunton to Torquay, 63.1 miles - ROUTE

By now, your legs may be aching and fatigue may be setting in, so we won’t get you out of bed too early. We’ll gather after light breakfast and aim to set off by 8.30 am. There are a few hills to conquer on this leg, but by now you’ll be ready for them.

We’ll start with a ride where we will cross under and over the M5 motorway, as we cycle south through Somerset and into Devon. After 25 miles we will pass the east side of Exeter and pick up the coast to Torquay. Our finish line will be in our sights now as there will only be 18m miles to go. After just one more hill, you will arrive at the top of the seaside town (or English Riviera) Torquay, where the fizz will be flowing, and fans waving, will be in front of us!

Do invite friends and family to join the team cheering you at the finish line. Do tell them to contact us to get further details and where to meet us. After the initial celebration on the seafront, we’ll check into our hotel and head to a local restaurant for a celebratory meal.

The following day we will return home via the train to London Paddington Station, where you will be reunited with your bike. If you are staying on longer do let us know as soon as possible so we can make necessary arrangements for your travel home and bike storage (charges may apply). Just contact us to discuss what would be best for you.
